Genetic Disorders

Physical Therapy plays a crucial role in addressing the physical challenges and limitations associated with genetic disorders in children.  While the specific approach may vary depending on the nature of the disorder, our therapists will create an individualized treatment plan that may include strength and mobility exercises, balance and coordination training, and the integration of functional activities.

Various genetic disorders include: Down syndrome, Muscular dystrophy, Rett syndrome, Cystic fibrosis

Torticollis is a condition characterized by the involuntary twisting or tilting of the neck, often referred to as congenital muscular torticollis (CMT).  Early identification is critical to achieving significant improvement in neck function.  Our team of therapists will create an individualized treatment plan considering the level of muscle tightness and weakness, range of motion limitations and any other associated conditions. Walking/Gait Training

Our team of physical therapists help children learn to walk or relearn to walk after a bone fracture or other illness that causes the muscles or bones in the legs that make walking difficult. Cole Pediatric Therapy has specialized equipment that further helps our patients walk with the correct gait pattern and technique. If your child is struggling with their balance and/or overall posture, physical therapy could be beneficial.

Gross Motor Deficits and Postural Balance Training

Our team of physical therapists will provide individualized interventions to help your child reach their developmental milestones by providing them with individual tools to become successful in all movements whether it’s walking, rolling, running, or beyond.

Neuromuscular Diseases/Deficits

Our team provides specialized care for children with neuromuscular disorders and other related conditions. Our therapists seek to improve the quality of life for children with neuromuscular diseases such as Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, and neuropathies, such as Guillain-Barre syndrome. We also treat those affected by spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, pediatric strokes, brachial plexus injury, chronic pain, and stiff or weak muscles.

Evaluation for Specialized/Adaptive Equipment

Does your child need specialized equipment to aide them through daily activities? If so, our therapists work in conjunction with medical equipment companies to evaluate your child’s needs. This could include wheelchairs, splints, standing frames, ankle foot orthoses, etc.
