Haiti 2019 – Day 1
Hello from Haiti!
We woke this morning to a great smelling breakfast! It was a scrambled egg dish, homemade bread, oatmeal, fresh fruit, fresh squeeze juice, coffee, hollandaise sauce, and fresh avocado! It was delicious!
Our first day didn’t quite start as we predicted. Unfortunately, Brittany (our OT) became very sick yesterday and continued throughout the night. We were all praying that she would feel better today! She wanted so badly to feel better! The doctor down here for CoreLuv recommended that she return to the states, so that is what she did this afternoon!
Brittany- we are sad that you had to leave so quickly! We all know how badly you wanted to experience this all! Thank you for all the fundraising you did and get well soon!
Our group left to head to the orphanage! The land is amazing! Prayer mountain is amazing! The views are indescribable! Upon arriving to the clinic, we started evaluating children. It was fun seeing past Cole therapists information! The children have grown and changed so much in 2 years! We also met some of the mamas. Most were very helpful! And our interpreters have been wonderful! They are Haitian young men who have gone to school and now are fluent in English. We’ve learned a lot about the Haitian culture from them!
At the end of the day, we walked over to the orphanage. We played soccer, danced, did some spontaneous speech therapy, and just loved on these sweet kids! We all feel very blessed to be here!
