Today we treated children in the clinic and in the Las Ovejitas school. It was amazing to see the joy on the children’s faces. Many of them were sad to leave when therapy was over! The staff from Aselsi who work with these children everyday are inspiring people. They were thrilled to show us the ideas which have been implemented since they were recommended by the therapists on the last Cole mission trip including a visual schedule in the classroom and timers to let students know when it is time to move on to another activity.
One of the most inspirational parents we met today was Christian’s father. He brought Christian to the clinic even though it was raining and Christian had a fever, because he didn’t want to miss therapy on the week that the Cole Foundation was here. Christian was seen by both of the previous mission trips to Guatemala, and his father has carried through with all of the therapists’ suggestions. Christian is blessed to have such a loving and dedicated father.
